THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Porta Romana, A Neighborhood Rich in History, Elegance and Vitality
Porta Romana is one of the most fascinating neighborhoods in Milan, where history, elegance and modernity coexist in perfect harmony. Located southeast of the historic center, the neighborhood takes its name from the ancient city gate, Porta Romana, one of the six main gates of the Spanish walls dating back to the 16th century, which still stands as a historical symbol of the area.
A Dip in History
The gate itself is a historical testimony, but the entire neighborhood is a mosaic of period buildings, cobbled streets and stately palaces. The past can be felt everywhere, but Porta Romana has managed to evolve into one of the most desirable and lively areas of Milan.
